About me

Hi there. My name is Ihsan. Welcome to my little space on the internets. 🙂

YummyGraphy is my attempt at food blogging once again, as well as working on my phtography. I’ve had a food blog before on Blogspot, and all of the posts have been imported here. That originally started as a way of showing my parents back in Brunei what my brother and I were eating while we were studying in the UK. That led to some rather outlandish dishes, but in the end of it, we both learned how to cook and bake. I found that I really enjoyed the cooking and baking, so I continued with my food blogging. Mostly cookies and brownies, and a looooot of chicken. I do like chicken.

But life is like a bicycle. In order not to fall, we have to keep on moving. And move I did. I got busy with life and found less and less time to talk about my latest experiment in the kitchen. Not that I stopped cooking, not really. I just stopped blogging, for a little while. But even throughout that period, I found myself still taking pictures of my food, on the off chance that I will get to blog about it “someday”.

Then I found a new hobby. Photography. Got a fancy new camera and wanted to take pretty pictures. I found myself taking pictures less of people and sceneries, and more of food. Food was vibrant, food was exciting, food can invoke so many emotions in people and mostly… food was delicious! And so I toyed again with the idea of talking once again about food. About sharing with the world the gooey decadence of a chocolate brownie, the beautiful red colour of a really good fish curry, the fragrance chocolate chip cookies make when you bake them in the oven.

And so here it is. YummyGraphy. A place where I can hoard all my pictures of tasty food, a place where I can describe everything I eat, and a place where I can share with you how beautiful food can be through pictures. Welcome to my world. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi Ihsan! Can I just say that I am in LOVE with your blog! I grew up in Brunei and get period cravings for Honey Garlic Chicken pizza (my mum, sister, and I were just reminiscing about it the other day, hehe), and I am so over the moon to have found your recipe! And on further inspection it looks like you have recipes for pretty much all of my most favourite things… nutella cheesecakes, red velvet cupcakes, custard puffs, buttermilk chicken… I could go on! So thank you so much for your amazing blog! I can’t wait to start cooking 🙂 And of course, it is beautifully written and beautifully photographed. Take care 🙂

      Hi Jeanne!

Thank you sooooooooo much for your message! That’s really lovely to hear. I’m so glad that some of my recipes have helped you to recreate some of the Bruneian dishes you have been craving. Please let me know if you’ve tried them, and how they turn out. I have to say, those Nutella cheesecakes are my new favourite thing, they’re so yum!

Waalaikumsalam. Oh, awesome! Thank you so much, and I am also glad to see someone from Brunei with a food blog. I thought people had given up on blogging anything already these days! Unfortunately, I haven’t updated in ages, but I’ve been meaning to. Just gotta find some free time. Good luck with yours! 🙂 Will definitely check it out regularly!
